The range of construction projects planned across the Philippi area will a major driver of jobs and skills.
The Demacon Market Studies report commissioned by PEDI has shown that private and public sector investment in catalytic projects will create a construction industry boom that could provide up to 52 000 temporary jobs over the next five years.
While Demacon predicted that a potential of around R8bn in catalytic investment was possible, PEDI believes that this figure was conservative. Already some R3bn was committed to or spent on projects in the area by the end of 2015 – and this is only the third of the eight year prediction cycle.
