Law enforcement going strong
The management of the peace officer project in the Philippi area has been taken over by the City of Cape Town Law Enforcement office. This follows the pilot phase of the peace officer project in terms of which PEDI had agreed to give the officers space for their base station at the PEDI office.
The launch of the peace officer programme has been part of PEDI’s commitment to precinct improvement. It was introduced to delegates at the Philippi Business Retention and Expansion summit hosted on 17 April and has already shown great benefits through law enforcement interventions.

PEDI CEO Thomas Swana has explained that the officers are part of the City’s law enforcement team and were not PEDI employees, although they had worked from the PEDI offices. He welcomed their permanent deployment to the area and wished them well in their efforts.
