PMU & PEP: Achievements and New Beginnings

The two-year Presidential Employment Programme (PEP) in the Philippi Opportunity Area was completed on 30 June. Managed by PEDI and the Philippi Precinct Management Unit (PMU) as the implementing agent for the City of Cape Town, this program has made a substantial impact on the local community.

Over the course of the program, three intakes of participants were hosted, offering invaluable opportunities for employment and skills development. This initiative has positively impacted over 1,400 residents, transforming lives by providing meaningful job opportunities and fostering personal growth through skill enhancement and training.

We are excited to share that our work continues. We have been appointed to manage a new PEP program for the 2024/25 financial year, albeit on a smaller scale, with approximately 136 participants. More details about this upcoming program will be shared soon. Stay updated by following us on Facebook.

Our PEP participants have significantly contributed to the community's safety, cleaning, and beautification initiatives, as well as gathering essential survey data on safety and environmental issues in Philippi. Below are the statistics reflecting the outcomes of our PEP and PMU cleaning and safety efforts from over the past six months.
